About Kalinga Storyteller

Where Travel and Story Meet

Kalinga Storyteller is rooted in a simple belief: places carry memory.

I travel to landscapes shaped by history, ecology, and movement — environments where migration, survival, and cultural meaning intersect. From sacred desert formations to protected wildlife corridors and living marine systems, I am drawn to places where land and story are inseparable.

Travel, for me, is not about collecting destinations. It is about understanding place.

Movement and Identity

I migrated from the Philippines to the United States in my early twenties and built a life here. That movement — across oceans, cultures, and identities — shapes how I see the world.

Post pandemic, my husband and I made a deliberate decision to travel with greater intention. What began with our first safari evolved into journeys across protected ecosystems and culturally significant landscapes. Each experience deepened my awareness that migration is not only ecological — it is human. Identity is layered. Belonging is complex.

Our roots are in Asia — I am from the Philippines, and he is from India — and that foundation informs how we move through the world. Travel does not feel like escape; it feels like continuity.

Across continents, one realization remains constant: land carries memory. And understanding place requires attention — not just presence.

Indigenous Heritage and Preservation

As someone of indigenous heritage, I believe stories are as vital as landscapes.

One of my most meaningful projects has been documenting oral traditions and transforming them into illustrated children’s storybooks. Stories once carried through voice and community now live in written form — accessible to new generations while honoring their origins.

Preserving story is another form of conservation.
